Several players have expressed interest in joining Real Madrid over the past year, but they have not aligned with Florentino Pérez’s plans.
For many years, Real Madrid has adhered to a meticulous approach in the transfer market, with scouting playing a key role in shaping the roadmap that guides the club’s signings.
This strategy leaves very little room for surprises. Florentino Pérez has avoided impulsive decisions for several years now, prioritizing signings that align with Real Madrid’s roadmap, even at the cost of bypassing seemingly attractive opportunities.
As a result, ahead of the next season, Real Madrid has rejected offers from as many as six top international players.
Six football stars sought Real Madrid, all rejected
According to DiarioGol, these six footballers, eager to play for Real Madrid, saw their offers dismissed as they did not fit within the club’s transfer policy. Today, the list of these players has been revealed.
The first notable name on the list is Joshua Kimmich, whose future has been the subject of much speculation.

The German player, through his agents, offered himself to Real Madrid, but the club did not consider the option.
The second name is Virgil Van Dijk, who had a strong desire to play in Spain. However, after being rejected by both Real Madrid and Barça, Van Dijk now seems to be aiming for Bayern Munich.
Another name on the rejected list is Leroy Sané, who was previously linked to Real Madrid in 2022 following the club’s failure to sign Mbappé.
On both occasions, it was Florentino Pérez himself who halted the potential deal. Another significant name is Jonathan Tah, who, after receiving a ‘no’ from Real Madrid, has reportedly set his sights on joining Barça.

Perhaps the most surprising names on the rejected list come from Manchester City. First, Real Madrid turned down Kevin De Bruyne, who has been a constant threat to the team in previous encounters but has recently experienced a dip in form.
Alongside him, Manuel Akanji was also offered to Real Madrid but faced the same rejection as his teammate.
Real Madrid’s roadmap defined
Real Madrid’s transfer strategy is clearly defined, leaving no room for improvisation. The short-, medium-, and long-term objectives have been in place for months.

While some names are yet to be confirmed as signings, three stand out as Real Madrid’s top priorities: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Martín Zubimendi.
These players are at very different stages in the transfer process. Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid appears to be a done deal.
Meanwhile, Huijsen, a popular prospect among Real Madrid’s scouting team, is reportedly interested in joining the club, although there has been no contact with Bournemouth yet. Zubimendi’s case is more complicated, as Arsenal currently lead the race for the Basque midfielder’s signature.
